Stella Red Hat Hattitude-Challenge 60@TSC

Hello friends! It's Monday again, and April is almost over. Where did it go? Is it Spring yet in your corner of the world?
The snow here has finally melted out of the backyard this past weekend but now we're having rain.
Next weekend is supposed to be good and hot so I'm really looking forward to that. We might actually get out on the Harley for a scoot.

There's a new challenge this week at Tammy's Scrapin' Corner.
Challenge #60 is All About Layers.
Our sponsors this week are Bugaboo stamps, and SK Digis.
I've chosen a Bugaboo digi called Stella Red Hat Hattitude.
Isn't that Red Hat charm perfect for this card? I think I have about 50 of those charms. I bought them at the time to add to the dough art Red Hat ladies I was going to make.Yeah, I still have all 49 left!
I also made a beaded "hat" pin for this card.
I'm  Looking forward to seeing what everyone else has created with layers this week.

I really wanted to sew on this card, so as soon as I woke up this morning I pulled out my 8 year old  but never used more than a couple of times, shiny like new, blue sewing machine.(yes it's a baby blue mini ultra Kenmore) Only to find that I no longer had the cord with the peddle. I guess that got left behind in the last move.(along with my complete box of Prisma pencil crayons) While searching for the peddle for an hour...before my first coffee, I did find my very large vitamin/pill container that I had been trying to locate for the last three months. It's really huge and I just don't even know how I could misplace something that big.
So now I'm on a hunt for the missing sewing machine parts from the manufacturer.
Hopefully I can get what I need, as well as the instruction manual. I'm not a sewer. I just bought the machine for scrapbooking.
So no sewing on my cards anytime soon.

Hey, did you notice I have an Etsy shop now?
Well I had it for a while but didn't really have anything in it to sell.
I had always intended to make and sell my cards on Etsy, but just never got around to listing
 any of them until now.
I found someone on Etsy who made this wonderful banner for my shop as well as for my blog so I decided it was finally time.  I hope it goes well.
I put a link to my shop on the side bar.

Have a fabulous week...and may you find everything you're searching for!

You're A Star-Challenge #59@TSC

Hello friends! Today I'm sharing a card I made for a challenge at Tammy's Scrapin' Corner
This weeks challenge is #59 Anything goes/Bling it up
Our sponsor this week is Stamp Fairy
I've used the digi called Mimi Stars 4
I'm looking forward to seeing what you create for this challenge.
It's a bling thing so add as much or as little as you like. When it comes to "shiny" more is always better! I had to stop myself from adding more bling to this card because I can get so carried away with sparkly things.  Glitter never photographs well but it is so shiny and sparkly in real life! I used purple and teal sticky glitter paper, and gold foil papers that I had been hoarding for at least 12 years. The glitter papers have a very glossy coating on the front and the  back peel away paper has Kodak written on it. All the things I've collected for scrapbooking over the years are finally getting used. Before making cards as much as I do now, I used to buy loads of scrapbooking paraphernalia scrapbook. Now every time I use something from my stash I smile and think, Ha! I knew I bought that for a reason!

I got to babysit Morgan, and Tanner, two of my grandkids again this weekend. I enjoyed having them so much that when they left Sunday night I felt all weepy. They only live an hour away and we get to see them quite often. We looked after them for two weeks, just three weeks ago, and they'll be here again next Saturday, but just for a quick visit. I guess it just kind of hit me how precious this time with them is. I try to be present with them every minute and create fun filled memories. This weekend we created more Art,and I introduced them to the poetry of one of my favorite authors, Shel Silverstein. We read from the book Where the sidewalk ends. They loved it and so did I! Especially Ickle Me, Pickle Me, Tickle me too...Spending so much time together has really bonded us and every visit is so precious to me.
I am so thankful to be so blessed!

Hope you have an amazing week...thanks for the visit!

I also wanted to share the present the kids gave me this weekend. This beautiful engraved pedant and chain that I will always cherish.
My daughter, Nerissa inked up and stamped Morgan and Tanner's hands and emailed them to a jeweler who added them to this pendant. "I love you to the moon and back" is something we tell each other all the time.
Here are their little hand prints preserved forever...It's no wonder I was so weepy right?!

Always Be A Unicorn-Challenge #57@TSC

Hello friends! Today I'm sharing the card I made for challenge #57 at Tammy's Scrapin' Corner.
This weeks sponsor is QKR
I've chosen a digi image called,Sitting Unicorn.

"Always be yourself. Unless you can be a unicorn. Then always be a unicorn."
I had just found that saying on Pinterest and it cracked me up. As soon as I saw this digi I knew I wanted to use that saying on my card.
This week's theme is Anything goes and add 1 image, 2 die cuts, and 3 embellishments.

I spent quite a while coloring the shaded parts of the unicorn with a really interesting color combination, leaving most of the body white. Then I decided I wanted to add a touch more color using the" bubble technique." That's where you add dish soap and ink or paint to water. Blow bubbles in the mixture with a straw, and touch your paper to the bubbles you've blown.
I've never done this technique before and I probably should have tested it on a piece of scrap paper first...but I didn't...and I was a little shocked surprised with how much color got transferred to the image. There was no going back from the big splotch of green in the middle of my unicorn so I just kept adding more color. I liked the finished look but all that beautiful shading I had just created disappeared.
Since I still had all this bubble/ink solution mixed up I decided to bubble up a test sheet of paper after all. Of course that turned out exactly how I thought it would! I used part of that paper behind the rainbow glitter paper, and on the inside of the card.
The die cut swirl was inked up with metallic pigment inks. I stamped a star stream over a part of the swirl and embossed it with glitter embossing powder.
Parts of the unicorn were painted with Frost smooch glitz, and the image has amazing sparkle to it in real life. It just didn't photograph well at all. The whole card is one big sparkle.

Thanks for the blog visit, and for all the wonderful comments you leave for me to read.
Looking forward to seeing your take on this week's challenge.

Happy Bee Day- Challenge #56@TSC

Hello friends! Hope your Monday is off to a good start. I woke up this morning a little shocked when I realized I forgot to post my card for today. So here it is a few hours late. I guess I've gotten a little distracted with taking care of Tanner and Morgan. I get three more days with them. I'm surprised how fast those two weeks went by.

This week's challenge at Tammy's Scrapin' Corner is #56 Anything Goes include April Fool, or funny birthday card.
Sponsors this week are Sk Digi's, and Deasy Designs.
I've chosen a SK Digi called Queen Bee.
Happy Bee Day...I thought that was pretty funny.
The "Happy" stamp is from an old SU set.
The papers are from a Glitz pack called Cashmere Dame.
Check out the challenge and play along with us this week.

Here are a couple of pictures of Morgan and Tanner. Morgan has been busy crafting all week and this is one of her Art projects. She was using glitter glue on her canvas, and while I stepped away for a minute she popped opened a tube of seed beads, and they all spilled out onto her canvas. Thankfully they all landed on wet glue and there weren't hundreds of beads rolling around on the floor. There were a few tears over that mishap, so I explained to Morgan that there is no crying in Art, and that it's always ALL good! We smiled and agreed that it looked even better now.
Too fun!
